A living body...
Aug. 4th, 2004 10:03 pmWell, today was a strange day. It started off normal enough... I slept in, wandered a bit through the city on way to work, get down to trying to catch up... I'm just starting to make a start on the incoming journal shipment, hearing that they might want to palm the work experience girl off on us for a while (taking my relaxing binding away while I get stuck trying to get Serials to work), and suddenly my name is mentioned. I turn. Enter section boss and deputy section boss. Am I free to go over to Prospect Place to help out at Traineeship Records today, only ATSN boss is there at the moment. They need someone else over there to help, and for some reason they got me going. I asked the former acting ATSN boss, she said that they must be just throwing any level one they can in there.
Anyway, I go over there - change of pace and all - and do some mail opening, and sorting of NFAs (I said that I hadn't done them before, it wasn't until it was all explained to me that I remembered I had done them... just years ago back before we did everything electronically. Then the rest of the day (the bit that isn't eating/phoning out and all) is attaching those sorted documents. Ok, needed to be done, but I don't see what the all-fired hurry was to actually send me (or anyone else, really, but someone from records side would've been more logical) over there to do it was. If I was taking requests, answering phones, etc then yeah, I'd get it, but I wasn't. Most of the time I wasn't anywhere near a computer or phone, and I wasn't even called away when boss went to lunch. I'll have to ask about the staffing's like over there, since there were other people around, I just don't know if any were records or not. Overall, a big "huh?"
Did get a more interesting walk back to town though - although trying to cross Fitzgerald is still a nightmare, thank you geniuses who decided that a major freeway-exit point doesn't need a specific pedestrian time. Popped by to pick up the new Firefly and Family Guy dvds on the way home, so that was my major plan for the day done!
