Sep. 17th, 2004 08:38 pmJust had my ears lowered! Or lost a fight with a lawnmower if that's your preferred term for a haircut, except I have some power of killing lawnmowers just by touching them... for once the back of my neck is sneaking out into the sunlight and open air... and it's weird...
I *had* hoped to find a R4 copy of StarGate today (yes, I have an R1 copy, but I can't use that for screencappery and iconmaking) - wouldn'tchaknowit, there's just a whole bunch of empty spaces in the new releases bit at JB, and also in the regular section, right as Starg... Not impressed, sold out in *one day* since release. Picked up the next episode disc though, and the second half of Angel season 4, since that's finally cheap. Round that off with a little visit to the comic shop, and that's the last of my holiday shopping...
Well well... just heard a news update about the Caring and Dedicated-to-his-Portfolio Alan Carpenter, State Minister for Education and Training, has been giving a principal's conference a dose of the ol' potty mouth, and he's "not sorry". He says it was to illustrate a point about not using low socioeconomic background as an "excuse" for poor student outcomes (since we all know all state schools have the same amount of funding as King's College...) - but given his track record with teachers, principals and the unions... methinks he was just itching for an excuse. For a Labor man, he's got a very Liberal Party view of education...
