1963 - Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor, Rex Harrison and Richard Burton premieres at the Rivoli Theatre in New York City.
2004 - A 1.3 kg chondrite type meteorite strikes a house in Ellerslie, New Zealand causing serious damage but no injuries.
(I know I shouldn't, but as soon as I saw meteorite... *hits "Audio Up" and "Smallville Theme" buttons*)

Two births:
1890 - Egon Schiele, Austrian painter and graphic artist (d. 1918)
1929 - Anne Frank, German-born diarist (d. 1945)

And a death:
2003 - Gregory Peck, American actor (b. 1916)

I also noticed that the day was celebrated as the sixth day of Vestalia in honour of Vesta by the Romans... vesta_sgc, you shouldn't have, another holiday day off for me. :D
