Today marks the sixth anniversary of my starting work for the Department. I still remember that first day even (sit down before you faint with shock, Rachel ;)), being shown about this big ol' wing of the building with a couple of other newcomers - the longest-serving of whom lasted about a year. I hadn't been introduced to the library then, and spent the entire day sorting papers by ID codes into a huge set of pidgeonholes - I think I may have been somewhat nervous since I didn't have much appetite that day (the muffin that saw me through was weird anyway).
Anyhoo, today I got some family research stuff for someone, following father and son teachers through the years, so that was good. It takes time if they keep moving round, but it's interesting going through all the old staff lists, seeing familiar names crop up (who'd've thought one of the country schools would be taught by none other than Captain Kirk?) - I'll miss doing that.
( Bat-nerd mode )
It continues to be nice weather for the ducks - more and more are gathering on the park (which is returning to its swampy roots nicely) with this strange rain stuff that's going on this week.
