Change of pace
Aug. 11th, 2005 12:07 amShort version: Day off. Stayed in bed.
Long version: I had a fair bit of time built up, and I just needed a change of pace day. I hadn't slept very well the night before (as in, if I didn't know better I'd say I hadn't slept), and was just running ragged. Plus I was already over the whole waking up early just to get in later and later thing, since we've lost the bus lane for construction works on next year's new train line, so we're stuck in freeway traffic crawling up in the morning (way to promote public transport, Geoff!)
Sure, my journal boxes, shelving and stuff still need doing, but may as well do it rested, since there always will be shelving, and boxing, and requests et al. Just a day away from it, no people with questions, no calls. Plus, it gets me out of a presentation I really didn't want to be at (the meeting room takes ten, maybe twelve - they wanted to give a presentation to three times that in there). And certain people can get various conversations out of their systems! (covers up innocent little ears).
So, slept in, took my time, got some shopping done at a less crowded time than usual (buying The devil's collection : a cynic's dictionary? Moi? ;)), and home again quicklyish (normal path was closed for re-surfacing, the detour is longer than expected to come out a few houses down). I toyed with the idea of the movies, but I arrived mid-session for everything, and didn't want to wait an hour.
