Ah, time off for good behaviour! Today - watched dvds, read comics.

Yesterday saw me deciding that I didn't want to get up early just to go into town, thankyouverymuch. *alarm - sit up - think for a moment - sink back down to sleep*

I finally got up later, missed a bus, and finally got in to the city just in time for lunch. I realise just how right I was when I remained totally unimpressed with Shared Services when they said they didn't have a cafeteria/kiosk onsite, and would require everyone to go looking for lunch in cafes (while coming back to all being together in one big area). City was packed (western blocks of the CBD). I got my comics (hey, they had I Can't Believe It's Not The Justice League, I wasn't waiting!) and stopped in at Elizabeth's bookstore, but I just didn't bother trying to get further into the central city. It'll wait for another day, when I can actually get up in the early morning. And hopefully it won't be so horrendously humid. And hopefully I won't miss busses in and out of the city (maybe if I hadn't stopped to see if that really was a cat I saw, and not just a branch)...

And just who let the Justice League writers into my brain? From the afore-mentioned JL trade:
Sue Dibny: He's a super-villain!
L-Ron: Pardon?
Sue Dibny: You know... the ones who look pretty much like our guys - but lie and plunder and conquer the world instead?
L-Ron: Those aren't super-villains. Those are politicians.

Especially these days...

A little story that came up yesterday, in amongst all the usual shenannigans from the Clowns in Canberra - the government continues to run as King of the Schoolyard, as again the Government MPs can say anything they want and get away with it, but woe betide an opposition member who does so.

(From The ABC's news site):
Opposition Leader Kim Beazley moved a motion of dissent against the Speaker after he ruled against an industrial relations question because of heckling.

"The Member for Perth was responding to heckling from the other side, from which he got no protection whatsoever from you," he said.

The dissent motion was quashed, naturally. Mister Speaker will continue to allow the his colleagues to say whatever the hell they want. Kind of like this, I'm thinking:

Liberal MP: Just because the Member spends every Sunday sacrificing children and goats in satanic rituals.
Speaker: Good boy, fellow-Liberal.
Labor MP: I think that was uncalled for.
Speaker: The Member will shut his filthy cake'ole and siddown or I'll have his ********!

Madness, really, having the speaker come from the Parliament itself. Way to make things impartial.

The Movie Of Your Life Is An Indie Flick

You do things your own way - and it's made for colorful times.
Your life hasn't turned out how anyone expected, thank goodness!

Your best movie matches: Clerks, Garden State, Napoleon Dynamite

Silent Night
You are 'Silent Night'! You really enjoy
Christmas, and you like your Christmases
conventional. For you, Christmas is about
family and traditions, and you rather enjoy the
rituals of going to church at midnight and
turning off the lights before flaming the plum
pudding. Although you find Christmas shopping
frustrating, you like the excitement of
wrapping and hiding presents, and opening a
single door on the Advent Calendar each day.
You like the traditional carols, and probably
teach the children to sing along to them. More
than anyone else, you will probably actually
have a merry Christmas.

What Christmas Carol are you?

If I knew Latin I'd be singing in Latin! :D I had to admit trying to avoid the cricket though...
*adds "Carol-Quiz Writer" to "List of People Who Think I'm UnAustralian", while whistling "Slice of Heaven"*

dragon
DRAGON

You are the dragon. A dragon,
in western lore, is a giant lizard with wings.
It usually has the capability to breathe fire.
The dragon symbolizes immense power, physical
strength, and courage. The dragon has also been
a symbol of wisdom and of protection. Dragons
may also appear to be greedy as many a tale
depict them as keepers of vast hordes of
treasure.

Aurilite (priestess of the goddess of ice)
Your French name is
~Congele~
which means 'frozen'.
People like to call you antisocial and mean, but
you really just like to be alone. Although they
don't realize that, just like everybody else,
all you want is to be accepted. But since no
one sees this, you like the company of you and
you alone.

What is your French name?

Writer raises a good point. Someone wants to be alone, they're automatically pegged as deviant, aloof, cold, etc.
