Well, I've made some headway on spending the loot from the lotto win. A couple of days ago I went into Dymocks (a local book chain) and came away with a little box of books, being The Eyre Affair (of which I've heard good things, then and now) and three sequels. I had almost bought them before, but thought "If I get them at Collins, I'll have the money put into the rewards-club-thing"... only to find that Collins didn't have them at all, box or otherwise. And a couple of weeks later Collins was forced to halve floorspace, so some "exciting new retailer" can take up the space that should be allowing me to browse without crowding.

Jump forward to today, and after a day of sorting out the best copies of the department's newspaper to keep and following the butterflies (ok, just one that I saw out the window), I went on my merry way to see what might be awaiting me in the comic store. Not feeling much like waiting for a bus, I walked into and through the city. Remember what happened last time? Well, this time I made it about halfway down the block past that shop before going back for a little something I noticed in the window - yeah, I have all the resistance of wet cardboard against a phaser rifle, but hey, windfall.

This time what caught my eye? A DeLorean, fitted out Back to the Future III style, with white-wall tyres and the circuitry-suitcase on the bonnet, about 26cm long. I really have to stop walking past that shop! At least I only bought the one though (yeah, there was a BTTF2 version as well).

And looking through those departmental papers reminds me... I'm still waiting for my lifetime supply of chocolate! This time in primary school, it was the day of the sports carnival and during the awards handing out they took a bunch of us aside for photos for something or other, and promised us a lifetime of chocolate for making human pyramids and all. Of course, adult-me would as why on Z'ha'Dum they wanted little-me for these photos (especially since I'd never done pyramids and stuff), and why the teachers didn't bother asking *us* (unless I figured I'd be very bored); but I'll let it all go for my chocolate! :D

*crickets chirp*

The Eyre Affair (of which I've heard good things, then and now)

I've heard that that one is really good. I've been planning on looking for it myself, someday.

This time in primary school...

My elementary school must have been the only one that never did anything big like that. These days that same elementary school that I went to takes kids to Washington, D.C., and places like that.

When I was little? Land Between The Lakes (not that far) for the planetarium. Stars on the ceiling, while you sit in theater seats and see a slideshow of the Seven Wonders of the World.
