Well, the lunch went fairly well, just a short walk to the restaurant, which has a good waterfront position (they only started marketing the area as a new chic and trendy waterfront less than two years ago), the area used to be a natural river inlet, but they did it all up, and made a wandering path alongside a paved stream and lakes.

Anyway, spent most of the lunch gazing out the windows (too much noise to talk), saw a flock of corellas on the farthest shore (in addition to the galahs that we nosing around the path on the way).

So, why am I writing this now? "Is it not morning where you are?" I hear asked... Well, it's because when I got home I found I had no electricity. Supply is normal in the city, no cuts, account is paid up... but my house has got super sensitive safety switches (Strine->English translation: circuit breakers we use so we don't have to replace fuses all the time) and since the weather was a bit wooly last night but not too bad (touch of hail, distant lightning) it was still enough to keep the main switch cutting in at the thirty second mark (one time in the afternoon I had power for eight whole minutes, joy!) So, no computer for me last night. Or telly. Or lights... 'twas an early night for me! Luckily the hot water stayed on :D

Fortunately they say that the weather will improve from around lunchtime, so things should be back to normal when I get home... think I'll pick up some extra D-cell batteries for the torches just to make sure...

Time today to continue the grand work... filling in a workmate's education in a critically lacking area - of all the scifi she's watched, she's never seen Deep Space Nine :o

Oh, and doing all the stuff I normally do here too ;) Request request request process in process out mail mail asking what they who were here before us were smoking while cataloguing request request... and of course the morning tea for our retiring workmate today - kinda party atmosphere at the moment :)

Hooray, home once more, and electricity flowing just the same as ever :) I once more have use of such useful little items as lights, telly and computer...

Still, got a nice new lantern-style-torch, just in case ;) *shines torch around, is mistaken for searchlights...*

So, shinynew!torch, and a shinynew!icon... many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] laytoncolt for letting me use this SpaderDaniel/ShanksDaniel blend :D

Didn't have time to feed my DVD addiction though... just had time to walk to the bus home after missing the CATbus, and my local shops don't have a DVD store... tomorrow sees me bringing home Voyager s2... and anything else that catches my eye ;)

And bah! Saw on Transperth's site how in the "interests of serving all our customers" they're stopping a lot of busses from going through the central city from two weeks from now. So, now I can rest assured that instead of having nasty ol' bus-to-bus direct transfer at Wellington St Station, I get a lovely convenient walk from the middle-of-nowheresville Busport over the busy crouded streets to get to the CAT buses that go past Silver City... and again on the trip home... with no thoughts made to altering the bus departure stations at Busport to make up for treble the number of people waiting there *rolleyes*
