After my post of great-uncle Jack's letter, I was asked if I had the pictures Jack mentioned. So, I asked Mum, and she sent down a few photos (including one of Jack), copies of the postcards, and a copy of one of great-great-uncle Maurice's letters he wrote briefly describing his trip home - he was leaving all the details until he saw his brother (my great-grandfather) a week or so after that

I also signed up with the ScotlandsPeople site, and managed to find my great-grandparents and their parents on Dad's side of the family! I was just lucky that Dad's father was old enough to be included in the births index, and that I could make out his mother's name - unfortunately the records were copied from microfiche, and the person back in 1904 could've certainly used some tips from Maurice on penmanship! Then I was able to backtrack from there for his parents' marriage entry, with each of their parents on there (once again, the microfiche thing strikes on my great-great-grandmother's maiden name though. Still, it's far more than I knew before!

Anyway, here are the four photos - I'll post the postcards later.
