Well, waiting for my Q&A in Voyager Acquisitions module to begin... it really helps that I haven't actually used Voyager-anything in the last month... plus we've got a slightly different way of doing things from at least one of the other sites...

Added trainer to my list of skills yesterday - new starter in Records, so was brought in to teach her the wonderful world of NFA attaching, which is almost all I've been doing for the last forever. Spent most of the day on it really, dealing with one little emergency or another... systems crashes, logins and all. And of course, it's everything I know... as out of date and me-guesswork as it is! ;) Now if I can just convince Boss-man that maybe, just maybe, since we have new blood, to send me back to the library!

And way to go last night TransPerth... the first holidays since the change to busses leave from busport. Yeah... it's the school holidays. It's also the Royal Show. It's raining even. There's no way that the rush hour buses from the main outbound platform would be even more crowded than normal, nooooo... ;)

The black cockatoos are so beautiful when they're in flight :)

Thieve much? from "Willow Summers" :D

Valen! I just realised that the dude next to me is going to be videotaping the whole session!

Now even if I do have something to say, it'll be on film... as we say down here: Not! Happy! Jan! I only like appearing in front of cameras when I'm in total control of all aspects... not when someone else has the lens (my artistic vision and others seldom coincide...)

I'm in the middle of Terry Pratchett's new book Going Postal at the moment, and saw a little line about the kind of questions libraries exist to answer:
"'Is this the laundry?' 'How do you spell surreptitious?' and, on a regular basis: 'Do you have a book I remember reading once? It had a red cover and it turned out they were twins.'"

Yep, even our library, which doesn't deal with the public as often as the publics do, gets these kind of questions. Could someone explain how "Records and Library" reads as "Buy Food Here"?

Wow, I've said it before and I'll say it again... why oh why hold the training at Prospect Place? Or rather, that particular room? I swear, I could raise my caffeine levels to "hyperacceleration" (like Fry in the episode of Futurama where he drinks 100 coffees), and an hour in that room would have me sound asleep...

But it is in a very nice location for having a break and a snack... the trees have been planted long enough that they're just under the level of the balcony/walkway. I stood in a spot overlooking two bottlebrushes, and while I was eating I noticed a slightly different patch of green in there - a couple of lorikeets were climbing around the trees having themselves a feed off the bottlebrush flowers (which tend to be about the same size as these parrots). :)

Oh, and we've now got another reason to not bother picking up the phone. Not only the telemarketers, now we have the prime minister sending automated messages of support for the local coalition candidates. Blah. Bad enough we hear him on the news and tv ads. Kind of torn between saying "at least it's only going out in marginal seats" and "I wish I was in a marginal seat" (unless there's a big upset on Saturday, Tangney is one of the safest government seats there is :( ).

(in reply to a certain question in your last post ;))

No, not at all. :)

Actually, I think it's quite fun! :D
