Well, this week has been rather stormy. Majorly stormy here, in fact. The week started with the storms sweeping through the southwest giving us Sandgropers twisters of our very own (Aussies on the FL may have seen the news about three schools here in Perth being wrecked, and the ABC building down in Bunbury being taken out). And to think I didn't see much at the time of the "worst storm in over a decade" than a few flashes of lightning and brief rainshower from my window while getting ready for work. The worst-hit area is only about 12-15km or so away too.

That was Monday. It's been switching between fine and raining since then - now way past the average for May. Thursday was a rather foggy morning, and as might be expected, traffic on the freeway is rather snarly thanks to the construction of the new railway stations at Leach Highway and South Street already being underway (yay). Anyhow, this has all led to a car wandering into the bus lane and getting itself hit by a bus - happening to be the bus in front of our bus. We didn't actually get told this by the driver (especially since I sit down the back of our nice articulated buses - which are still being made just not being bought by our stupid never ridden a bus themselves planners) but the other passengers we ended up taking picking up for the rest of the trip into the city were talking about it. Plus, passing the bus-that-hit, the front-left corner was caved in, forcing the front door at least 35 degrees out of alignment along the face of it, didn't see if it was also forced inwards as well as along.

Today was all fine, warm etc. At least, I'd thought it had been. A little before 6pm I put my book down and went to hang some clothes out undercover. Oh, funny flashing light. Go to the front of the house, and lo and behold, there's clouds. [Charles Gray]Heavy, black, and pendulous.[/CG] Well, not *that* much, but the south and west were all clouded over, with lightning flashing every few seconds. Mostly in the clouds (especially at that point) but this one cloud was lower than the others, so the sky would light up as the higher clouds shone, but the lower one didn't. This went on for the next few hours, moving slowly (and yes, I was watching this). Luckily we only got rain and the storm only came semi-near in its less-frequent-but-more-ground-directed lightning stage. Luckily as in "no blackouts". I really think this house is (normally) on a piece of land the main force of things go around. It's kinda like when I lived in Beverley - anything that happened there, happened in York more severely.

More of an update tomorrow... well, today now. Assuming I have power/haven't switched things off for storms. Which reminds me: vesta_sgc, you told me to not forget about the new Dr Who starting up... um, does that count if I don't even have the telly on?
