An auspicious occassion!
Jul. 1st, 2005 11:22 pmOr, rather, a rather grandiose title for the post where I say "I've had an LJ for a year now!" ;)
Oh, you were expecting actual news and stuff? Sorry...
So, a year later, and I still don't have a life. ;) It's all going exactly as I expected  Well, ok, a few fewer memes and quizzes than I expected... here, have one now ;)
Aussie Slang? Moi? ;) Stone tha crows!
The West reported yesterday's rally pretty much as I imagined they would. No, scratch that. I had expected something a little more prominent than page 7. Oh, there was mention in the (nonpicture) cover headline, except it doesn't like like it, when the headline reads "Union plans to target building companies". Yup, workers could lose their jobs at boss' whim, but they don't matter, as long as the big mean nasty 'orrible CMFEU are threatening the poor little big construction bosses of the world...
And most telling, the "opinion" piece labelled "Motley crew find common ground". Charming. Well, now I have to go and find myself a big blue singlet and orange reflective vest, since everyone there was big scary brickies and other construction workers, intimidating workmates into coming. I'll agree that Geoff Gallop invoking ANZAC was a bit strange, though. Especially when we've got the "fair go" concept part of the national psyche (well, until the Orwellian-named tribunal gets rolling...)
I needed to get a new comics box today. I wish I could've bought a bottle of juice as well (can't exactly trust those in a box to carry home...) Nexus fair next week. And I didn't know galahs actually slide down lampposts, but they do, I saw one do it this morning.
