National Anthem
Dec. 15th, 2004 08:23 pmSo, Fearless Leader doesn't like the new arrangement of the National Anthem to be played at Sydney's New Year celebrations (http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200412/s1265829.htm)
Well, apart from being tempted to like it just because he doesn't ;), I gotta say, teacup storm much? The standard arrangement will be played earlier in the evening still, it isn't like the "techno"ised version (as the news calls it - I can't tell different music styles apart if they paint themselves different colours and shout...) is now what will be used in every single official engagement from now until the sun explodes.
Also, this quote catches my eye... the anthem should only be played and sung to allow maximum audience participation.
Audience participation? Then the answer is obvious! ;) Australia's new national anthem should be... The Time Warp! *is now hearing Tony Martin's "The Most Powerful Man in Australia" impression of the PM, singing "I'm just a sweet transvestite"...*
Or there's a certain other arrangement possible... Advance Australia Fair can also be sung to the tune of the theme from Gilligan's Island... :D
