Current desktop making a change from what it's been the last few months...
Tada, welcome to that thing known as "week off!" *is lazy*
Monday saw me toddling off around the traps - Fremantle actually! Although walking around there can be a bit problematic - people and surveytakers and narrow footpaths, oh my! I wanted to see if the two Elizabeths (a chain of secondhand bookstores) had any older comics of the Excalibur (first series) or New Mutants or even X-Men variety (yeah, I can dream they let the old stuff through ;)). Unfortunately it appears that the main store in Perth city is the one for comics. Found some Dazzlers from the early 80s, but that's all from the time.
I did find a copy of Tales of the Dominion War in the Dymocks there (no ability to walk by a bookstore, even if my discount card is for a different chain). Also found a collection of trade paperbacks there - might have to have another look into the city stores next time ;).
The train trip back up to Perth showed just how bad the haze and humidity was/is this week. There's a stretch of the line along the ridge, nothing to obscure the view of the ocean. Rottnest Island was completely hidden. A couple of ships anchored in Gage Roads looked more like ghosts. And I do hope they keep the underground part of the stupid new train line to a minimum - bor-ing not having anything to look at out the window. And now I've got that song from Labyrinth in my head.
Picked up the new comics in town - found a copy of the new series Excalibur that I'd missed, which was lucky. But too crowded even on a weekday to really do much. Either that or I'm just an antisocial grump (I can see you nodding and making faces, Wessy!) I must go back on Thursday and get my hair cut - sometime early, before the humidity can cut in too much. Assuming I can wake up that early...
