But... the blue! The blue!
Jun. 8th, 2005 12:15 amSome folk'll never eat a skunk
And then again some folk'll
Like Cletus the slack-jawed yokel...
Well, I guess it had to happen. To work around books for so long, it was only a matter of time. Today was mine.
"Hi, I'm looking for this brochure my friend said you had. It's about blahblahblah... and it's blue!"
YES! Because, naturally, we were given copies of *every* brochure the Department or its 19th century antecedents ever published, and we've been memorising the whole blinkin' lot in readiness. And only *one* book in the entire library is blue.
Ok, so I can't find it in what we've got, I tried to get what may have been the closest match from the very broad keyword search from what we have, but was stopped. Blue and about other countries doesn't help. The old Department name doesn't help, at least once they went through a phase of printing *everything* in blue. I personally think it's more akin to some OECD reports I've seen. "But my friend has it, and it's blue!" in what-kind-of-moron-are-you voice. I suggest visiting the section that deal with what they're asking about *now*, but they go the other way. Well, sawwwree! What am I meant to do, pull it outta my butt? No, I'm just Cletus the Useless.
Cue me pointing out anything blue I find for the rest of the day. Including 200-odd books I myself bound, 50 years' worth of Phi Delta Kappan, old desktop references...
Some folk'll never lose a toe
And then again some folk'll
Like Cletus the slack-jawed yokel!
Well, three days until leave, and what with more requests in (as predicted ;)) and filling in, and dealing with new furniture stuff I won't get a chance to do any little things like shelving etc...
So I was channelsurfing yesterday during the public holiday. Daytime TV. And I passed by Dr Phil with Samuel L. Jackson as guest, and he said "Next on the Dr Jackson Show..." Well, I laughed. ;)
