Long weekend quizzery
Sep. 24th, 2005 11:30 pmIt's a long weekend, hooray! Feeling a touch poorly though - easily taken care of with the dry-cough formula and aspirins though. Might have to go shopping for some more drinks tomorrow though.
Have already finished the second season of Press Gang, now to watch the first. Or at least start it, before going back to a little emergency on Tuesday. I noticed one little thing about barcodes the other day, and it's kinda sorta snowballed from there...
I tried to answer as Quincy, Ray - but his answers broke it
I doubt anyone is surprised by my high marks in this ;)
Not apply to Buck House? But I'm already dressed for it! *is toffed up to the nines, complete with Tim Brooke-Taylor's Union Jack waistcoat*
When you see this on your friends list, quote something from Shakespeare.
From my year 10 English class, we were all made to memorise twenty lines of Julius Caesar and recite these to the teacher. Teacher was a bit of an extrovert, and wanted to "encourage" me by getting me to repeat my recitation to the Deputy. I was literally saved by the bell!
CASSIUS:
I could be well moved, if I were as you:
If I could pray to move, prayers would move me:
But I am constant as the northern star,
Of whose true-fix'd and resting quality
There is no fellow in the firmament.
The skies are painted with unnumber'd sparks,
They are all fire and every one doth shine,
But there's but one in all doth hold his place:
So in the world; 'tis furnish'd well with men,
And men are flesh and blood, and apprehensive;
Yet in the number I do know but one
That unassailable holds on his rank,
Unshaked of motion: and that I am he,
Let me a little show it, even in this;
That I was constant Cimber should be banish'd,
And constant do remain to keep him so.
CINNA:
O Caesar,--
CAESAR:
Hence! wilt thou lift up Olympus?
DECIUS BRUTUS:
Great Caesar,--
CAESAR:
Doth not Brutus bootless kneel?
CASCA:
Speak, hands for me!
CASCA first, then the other Conspirators and BRUTUS stab CAESAR
CAESAR:
Et tu, Brute! Then fall, Caesar.
Look, I managed to avoid the temptation to mention certain Prince Regents (and their long-suffering butlers) or Klingon Generals ;)
Oh wait...

You have a good appreciation for what counts as real English and what does not - but you still slip up from time to time. You may not be word perfect when it comes to spelling and grammar, but at least you don't go weak-kneed at the very thought of using an "S" instead of a "Z". Your grasp of the Queen's English is certainly sufficient for you to get by in England, but don't aim for a job at Buckingham Palace just yet. |

Actually, I'd had an inkling that it might be the other way, but I ignored me for butting into my writing.
