Leach Highway Station - or rather, what will be Bullcreek Station (I still think of it as Leach Hwy Station) looks like giant sandpit at the moment, including toy cars and trucks and construction vehicles randomly scattered about as if by a giant kid.

The weather people are predicting a hotter summer than normal, with the possibility of it being Perth's Hottest. Summer. Ever. D'OH!

Christmas decorations - the first wave are now on sale at Coles! Mid October, and for the early-bird shoppers, there are now wrappings and tinsel and gift-baskets and chocolate-advent-calendars ready to buy... I think it might be slightly early for the calendars...

Also seen in Coles, these little toys using a slogan "Kids are cool" on the packs. I can just see slightly younger versions of Dick and Tim bickering on this line.

Is anyone feeling kind and have an extra AU$270ish? The Complete Calvin and Hobbes is in my local bookstore! :D I was just browsing the new releases quickly, and almost turned away when a picture of Hobbes caught my eye. I turned to see what it was on, and saw it was a big box. And then I realised - three thick hardbound volumes in a slipcase box - the lot! I didn't get it, but still... shiiiiiiiny!

My mother has had chocolate advent calendars for over a month now. :D

Sadly, all the fair trade ones seem to be designed for blind 3-year olds. :( But the chocolate is good. :D

Christmas decorations have been available in Canada since July. I wish I were exagerating, but I'm not. July! WTF?

I'm always kind. Having extra cash laying about, not so much, alas. Otherwise I might buy one of those for myself...

Ah, well. That's what relatives and Christmas presents are for. :)

Father's Day here is in June. July 1 is Canada Day. There are really no other marketable holidays between that and our Thanksgiving, which is in October. After Thanksgiving is Hallowe'en, and then Christmas. Since Thanksgiving is more about food, and Hallowe'en is more about costumes and candies (no one sends out Happy Hallowe'en cards, for example), then the only real holiday that the card stores have to celebrate after Canada Day is Christmas.

It sort of makes me wish our national holiday was in November, though. ;)

I was at Karryinup the other day and in Myers they already have Chrissy trees up and for a minute I thought it was November already. (Somebody's birthday is next month) They are putting the decos up a little early aren't they? It's so tacky.

I caught the stomach bug a few days back and threw up a few times at home. Not very nice at all. I'm better now.
