Booksmart floral warp drive
Nov. 7th, 2005 08:30 pmSeemingly long day today, with a sunny walk in, and a cloudburst on the way out. Coming in out of the rain is the most natural time to buy sunglasses, isn't it? ;) Well, they'll do until someone creates a magpie-repellant *goes to Collingwood and just drives around, meh heh heh*. Ok, wrong kind of magpie - as Bender would say "Hey, what's with the flying jerks?!"

Since Einstein threw a monkey-wrench into that idea under our current understanding of physics, most sci-fi writers use the idea of "hyperspace" or "subspace" -- a realm in which the tyranny of E=mc² does not apply.

Date: 2005-11-08 04:07 am (UTC)And the weather seems to have been awful everywhere this past weekend. We had 90kmh winds yesterday, there was a power blackout in Mississauga (the city just to the west of Toronto), and some friends in Montreal lost some shingles off their roof.

Date: 2005-11-09 03:48 pm (UTC)Most of the year they're all right, they happily (and very curiously) go about their business. But in the late spring, they get all swoopy. Big glossy butcherbirds with big triangular beaks... we're taught to be very careful of them and other butcherbirds.
And yeah, the weather is going mental. I just mentioned the rain as a contrast to the morning, but Adelaide has flooding, and I think major storms in New South Wales in the last few days too.
Ah well, just wait until the mercury starts climbing, then there'll be some colourful posting...

Date: 2005-11-10 04:05 am (UTC)Regarding the swooping, I've seen that kind of behaviour in other bird species - when I was about 14, I was at Ontario Place (a theme park here in Toronto) and I got attacked by seagulls.
As for the weather, it was weird again today - dreary and drizzly, with a sudden thick fog around 4 in the afternoon which cleared up by 5. It's clear(ish) now but damp. Ugh.
