So, the holiday is over, and I'm now back to work - after all the kerfuffle even if I wasn't needed up the front for who knows how long I'm being told different stories of how much work was down the back (for those who know their X-Files, the way-things-were I was told was like waaaay back it might've even been the first episode, with someone walking through miles and miles of boxes on shelves. Or for those who don't remember, think the start and end of Cold Case).

So, today started out with the adding of decorations to office. All new, since all the old decorations were chucked in the fit of enthusiastic throwing out. And now, all up, along with some banners made up on that handy new toy that is the document centre/A3 colour printer.

And then, to lunch! Yes, was the big Christmas lunch do, at a swish restaurant in the Sheraton Hotel in the city. It's actually only about 10-12 minute walk away, but snagged a ride with someone taking a taxi anyway - that road isn't very pedestrian friendly. So we arrived a few minutes before everyone else, managed to get some good(ish) seats - even on the customary end-seat we were all crouded in trying to reach plates. The place itself? No way I, simple son of a groundskeeper, should've ever gotten in. Building must've cost over a million just for the front reception area. The restaurant itself was less expensively appointed - our party got a raised platform area all to ourselves and our party-popper wars.

Anyhow, once everyone got settled, time to let the feasting begin! Smorgasboard, so while I was in there my plates saw: unknown salad in sauce thing (well, there was greenery in it and it was the first I'd seen), boiled? chicken, jasmine rice, roast potato and pumpkin (I was just shoveling that down like candy!), boiled potatoes, ham, turkey (got the last bits too), spiral pasta, and general salad fixings (mmm - mango pieces).

And of course - dessert! I just took in a chocolate and raspberry torte-slice-thing (understated sweetness, didn't seem as sinfully sweet as it looked), and a chocolate mousse with ginger (in little glasses with great big sail of chocolate sticking out).

Of course, I say they didn't *seem* as sinfully sweet as they looked. Silly me. Those sweets were very rich (well, as was the rest) and sweet. I stuck round for a few minutes after that (avoiding groupphotos by simply not getting up), and then I left when those of us made to go back to work started drifting away. I practically ran to the newsagency (to cash in my lotto win - just over $60 for two minor wins) and back to work the easy if slightly longer way, whistling the whole way. Yes. It happened. HYPER. *bounce bounce bounce bounce* for the next hour. Which, of course, leads to CRASH. Slump. Drained. As if I wasn't already recovering from an earlier sleepless night.

So very much from all over the place....

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last month I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). Last Saturday I pulled [livejournal.com profile] justace's hair (-5 points). In June I didn't flush (-1 points). Last Friday I helped [livejournal.com profile] auriocookie see the light (8 points). In March I gave [livejournal.com profile] johi36 a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points).

Overall, I've been nice (44 points). For Christmas I deserve a toy train!

Sincerely,
seandc

You Have a Melancholic Temperament

Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything.
You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life.
You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.

Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace.
You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life.
Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.

At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you.
You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others.
You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult.

I think I put on five kilos just reading this entry. ;)

And I'll tell you the same thing I told [livejournal.com profile] rbegley - it is useful, you just have to know how to use it...

And this is the first time I've seen the Black and Decker tool kit being given by someone other than [livejournal.com profile] ozreison.
