Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday-Of-Your-Choice, all. Hope the holidays are good ones and don't worry about eating too much - go nuts! :D Even if you're not celebrating. ;)

'Twas the day before Christmas, all bright and early did I arise from the depths of sleep into the fullness of the day... the lengths I go to for my comics :P. Ok, so I also picked up the last supplies for tomorrow - just in Woolies in the city though. Even at just-after-9 Southlands' car park was packed to the gills (the bus goes past there). Anyway, took to a bit of browsing while I was in - got in at the right time, even if I didn't find new shinies until reaching Empire (went in to check for DVDs, came out with a Nightcrawler) and Quality Comics (which you pretty much have to know are there - both only have a doorway visible, one going waaaaay upstairs, and the other not-quite-as-way-but-still-a-decent-depth downstairs). The news ran their usual story about the last-minute buyers, but even after seeing the carparks and that, I reckon most people would probably have been making the most of the sunny-but-still-springlike conditions - there were enought parasailers and jetskis on the river, and the yachts were just starting to appear.

'Twas the day before the day before Christmas, and all along the office most people weren't pretending very hard to work in the morning. On Christmas Eve (or the nearest day allowing for weekends yadaya) we get released onto an unsuspecting world at lunchtime as long as we've got someone covering desks/phones - since there's always someone who has questions then. I was a minute from leaving when my question came from Bossman's Boss. Surprised myself by finding an answer, really. But anyway, found the answer, and was off and away. It's still not hot over here yet, to walking back into the city was still fine. I was kind of thinking of doing some browsing then, but the crowds going into the shops were thick as flies, and it was the same coming back to the suburbs. It was seeing the checkout crowds at Coles that told me taking up the leave-early option was the smart option instead of waiting til Saturday.

'Twas yet another day earlier, and there was an improptu morning tea out for us front desk types. "Out" turned out to be across the street at the new ABC Centre (although some people were confused by being told "across the road" and went to the wrong place). The cafe there has a kind of converted warehouse feel - high ceiling, walls mostly bare with many of the fixtures more "attached" than "part of", and the floor is bare concrete, just polished/varnished whatever it is they do. I had to keep reminding myself that no, it wasn't a converted building, the building hadn't even been finished a year ago. It all went well together though, I couldn't tell if the things hanging from the ceiling were meant to be giant silver baubles or were permanent features. Anyway, got my white choc and macadamia biscuit (reliably informed by cashier that they're the best ones from the jars) and took it easy.

One of our regulars came in late in the day with some returns and a bottle of red for us - we've decided we're being spoiled. C thought this was all very funny since she knows I don't drink. And the making lunch at the make-your-own place is turning into a bit of an adventure - note to self, some mustard being good doesn't automatically mean more mustard is better...
