If my Grandmother were still alive today she would be getting her telegram from the Queen - a century ago today she was born.

While Grandma mightn't be with us any more, at least a couple of her siblings are still with us. I got a package on Friday from her brother Maurice in Canada (via Mum), and there was a whole bunch of copies in there. As well as some more details on our part of the family and some more of Uncle Jack's letters, I was able to add entirely new branches of the Stubbs family in there, and go back a couple more generations than I'd been able to before for the Stubbs, U'ren and McMillan lines. Found a whole lot of doctors in there (indeed, the relative who compiled some of the information on his branch was a leading physician), governors, artists, and that one relative was on the HMAS Sydney when that ship was lost with all hands in World War Two.

As well as the new Stubbs lines there were several pages about the U'ren family (my great-great-grandmother's family) and about their time in the early days in New Zealand - to correct something I wrote earlier, it was actually one of Elizabeth's brothers, Thomas, who was the first European child born in Poverty Bay, and it was their elder sister Gertrude who was born en-route.

A couple of pieces of luck - in the form of a couple of lotto tickets. Minor wins for sure, but better than a whole load of nothing. And hey, division 5 last week, 4 this week... maybe there's a handy trend for next week. ;)

I managed to find an imported disc of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist at 78 Records on Friday too - I didn't even know it had been released on dvd anywhere! Of course, picked it up there, since no idea when or even if there'll be a region 4 release. Hard to believe the show's a decade old already - of course, a couple of years later it started over here, leading to to South Park on SBS on a Saturday night back in the early years of that show.

Oh, it can't be that late already! Of course, I did spend a fair amount of the day asleep, trying to shake one of those annoying almost-colds that won't either develop into the full thing or just go away, so I just sound a bit rougher than normal, and need more aspirin. So, back to it tomorrow, way too early (but working on the bright once again - I noticed on Friday how much lighter later it's staying now), and possibly get swooped by parrots again! (yes, parrots, not magpies - this actually happened last week ).
