Lunch and thereafter
Dec. 3rd, 2004 11:50 pmWell, I have officially survived Christmas Lunch, and the planning sesh beforehand. The TAFE across the road has a strange feeling - all galleries and walkways. The main part of the building is all airy and opened out beneath the roof, with huge windows. The other part did have normal corridors, but more rooms are open to them. Just who designed the theatrette? Year 7s? Cause the seats were tiny. The courtyard has changed a lot since the last time I went through it (when I was still a student) - the mix of trees and stone columns is strange, but nice.
The Atrium did a good spread as one might expect of a smorgasbord in our highest profile hotel complex. The room itself was another huge open one (the restaurant was just one wall under an undercroft, that's how big it was). The chocolate mousse was positively sinful. And hazelnutty. And one of the waitresses looked like Anya from Buffy - shall we say half-clone, Becc, Lesley? :lol: Just wish Bossman wasn't so keen on getting photos of us all - note, groupshots with people standing next to eachother with more than a head's difference - not good.
Didn't stop in at the casino afterwards though... I figured I'd blow enough money doing what I ended up doing - skipping straight back to town on my weekly sweep through the comic shop and the DVD store (Red Dwarf 5, finally out, yay!)
There's a thread in the SFF forum about what kind of superpowers we'd like, with the ability to choose three. I'm a nerd... when I first saw it, I wasn't choosing, I was matching each power to which X-Man... ;)
In the end, I chose walking through walls, the ability to influence people's behaviour through mind control, and other/teleportation. For those keeping count, that's Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat, Rachel Grey/Marvel Girl (ok, so it could be any telepath, but I was thinking of her changing people's perceptions in a recent ish), and Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler.
