Chevron Eight Engaged!
Mar. 1st, 2005 12:24 amAhhhhh, Gating to Transylvania... that takes me back... haven't combined the two since the early days of SGC Chat... were you even there yet, Wessy? (yeah, I couldn't help myself when I saw this icon... "it isn't? it IS! so adding to the list!")
Well, the election's done, and we kinda won - rather, the best result we could've hoped for, as it were. To carry on the all-too-right wrongness of the last post, it was "Essendon" Gallop who got across the line. Still, better than "Collingwood" Barnett. Just. Probably. (and given how much sport even *I'm* referencing, that quiz from last time was rather lacking a few options)
I managed to slip by the how-to-vote-carders without too much fuss (as best that can be managed without being invisible). When I was leaving, though, and fewer people were coming up at the time (typical ;)) the hander-outerers were getting a bit more in-your-face. I didn't stick around, but there was a group of goths coming up and they were getting drawn into a debate with the Family First contingent.
I didn't end up picking up the Exiles and New Mutants trades on Friday - the shipment was still being sorted out, only just managed to pick up a few of the new issues. But it's worked out well, since this weekend is a long weekend, extra reading time. :D Plus with any luck some of the Babylon 5 movies, Crusade and also another Goodies collection. Maybe I should've taken longer than a week after the big refurb's done.
I saw a flock of black cockatoos today while waiting for a bus. Not so unusual, until one was being hassled by a magpie or a wattlebird, and for a moment I saw it's tailfeathers. Red tailfeathers. This is the unusual part, since the most common cockatoo around here is the short-billed (or Carnaby's) black cockatoo which has white tailfeathers (and a distinctive call). I knew that the Forest red-tailed black cockatoos are meant to come up this far, but I'd never actually seen any until today.
