Still in my week off, but felt I should bestir myself from the house today (plus, I needed to go shopping). So, I decided to give in to the excitement around abouts and go and see Harry Potter IV (opening day here).
Just barely got into the first session of the day - caught behind a couple of talkative people in the ticketing office - normally there aren't any movies playing quite yet, but the biggies have early start times. The cinema was already showing the ads by the time I got in - I'd thought the first session would have one of the biggest screens, but not to be. The theatre was about 2/3 to 3/4 full - not worth trying to get up high, but surprisingly one of the entry-level (midway in the seats) seats wasn't that bad for my neck.
I'd say it's the one that's worked best. The others felt like stuff was missing. This one didn't *feel* like that, even though we knew there was heaps left out.
Some sequences were just grand, like the dragon flight. Although I was surprised by there being any cheering in the stadium, considering we'd just jumped from "Everybody Hates Harry" a minute before. Just as well he's so against the Dark wizards, the way the school turns against him...
The maze was different than I'd imagined. I'd wondered however did they mean people to be able to see how the contestants were doing?
The unforgivable scene was creepier than in the book, hovering the spider around and about students, and then killing it in front of Hermione of all people.
And drat, we missed the Malfoy on the train home scene. Pity. *EG*
About time they used the twins in the movies! Is it scary I was thinking the very line "try saying that 5 times quickly" just as one said it?
What if the band had taken its song cues from a certain Discworld witch?

Thought for the next book - Umbridge or whatever her name is gets tired of all the ghosts cluttering up the place, and so requests some professional assistance. Who you gonna call?
So, that was that. Left, shopped, found out cashier was going to the movie after work (handy part of working directly below the cinema), and returned to home sweet home, lunch, the normal tales of the world and Press Gang on DVD. I'm about to finish the latest disc. At least the next one's coming out next month.
