Whoa. Up until... well, twenty minutes ago the light around here has just been a really wrong shade of yellow washing over everything. Smoke from up north mixed with what's meant to be incoming rain. Huh, a cloud passed over, and then the light went red for a few more minutes. Thankfully the sun's set now, everything just looked dull and wrong.

Guess it just made me think once more of all the happy fun tales of post-nuclear-war societies (eg - Children of the Dust) I read as a kid (sorry Rachel, you're not the only one who can be morbid and creepifying), what would the light look like in the first few weeks et al. Lucky me, I started reading these only a couple of months before Gulf War I began...

I heard that there were wildfires - how far away are they from you? (I don't recall where they are offhand - I just saw a brief flash about it on the news.)

Scary coloured sky...we had a bit of a strange yellowish/orangish sky happening the other day which was weird.

Talk about heat wave weather we've been having?! Then it just cooled right down and is like 21C today...strange. Go Melbourne weather.

Well, the fires over here were about 100km north, I'm reading (I'd not really paid much attention to the news yesterday, I just heard "north of the city") - wide area, but open land. I'd guess your news had the fires in New South Wales and Victoria, those killed at a firefighter and have been burning out homes, cars and farms.

The Powers That Be are warning of a possibly bad season for us though. Unfortunately, it's this way every summer.

Aye, coloured skies are freaky, but it could be worse. At least it's not green (green=tornado - someone took pics in our storms last year, plus a friend in Twister Alley has seen it for real).

And ahhhh, for once Perth is being nice and consistently cool (at least, December was *covers ears against forecasts*). Everyone's weather is weird except mine :D *lalalala so not thinking of any sayings about pride...*
