Mister Sandman Bring Me A Dream...

My Amazon order came in today - the three Real Ghostbusters DVDs and the Firefly and Stargate CDs. First prediction for arrival date was the 24th, the second was for the 31st, so we're doing well.
Anyway, I took my little box of goodies in, and aftersqueefullydutifully checking all the contents slipped in the first of the Ghostbusters DVDs in and settled back. This was the ep out of the ones released I really wanted to see most - three points if you guessed it was the one with The Sandman (no, not the guy from the radio... no, not Dream of the Endless either). I remembered this one from when it was on telly in the 80s - weird dream images, very noticeable soundtrack playing right into midst of dreams thing, and a good chance for Winston and Janine to show how much they really do for the others when they're off in their own little dreamlands (their usual dreamlands...)
First day back... I need more people who realise that a wave is good enough for first thing in the morning, not ambushing before I'm even halfway to my desk then getting huffy when I'm not in superpumped mode. I need those first few minutes to mentally shift into people mode. Anyhow, got a good lot of photocopying and printing done (the Battye Library got enough of my money in their copiers when I was there for over four hours on Friday, the book I managed to get in I can take plenty of copies from for free, danke). I've got a fair amount of typing and collating to do now, and it's good to have the referenced pages in hardcopy.
*smacks fingers* Stop sliding onto the wrong icons!
I choose to end this entry... now.

Date: 2006-03-28 01:30 am (UTC)I can sympathize with that. I am definitely not a morning person, by any stretch of the imagination, and I don't really consider myself to be a people person at the best of times (though I force myself when it's necessary). Try to make me combine the two, and you risk getting your head bitten off. ;)

Date: 2006-03-28 03:21 pm (UTC)I'm just thankful that Bossman hasn't shown any interest in "teamwork" videos, the kind that talk about showing up every day being "turbocharged!" (I kid you not, they gave us one with this phrase a few bosses back).

I've had to endure a few of those over my career. Management thinks it's a wonderful idea, but the employees all secretly snicker behind their backs. That may be a big reason why the managers are managers, and the employees aren't, come to think of it - it takes a certain mindset to get that high in an organization, and I think that one of the initiation rituals for new managers is to surgically remove all memories of how stupid the employees thought those motivational sessions were.

And maybe they're only functioning thanks to caffiene!

Oh yes... especially the one I'm thinking of - it just *screamed* "80s!" the whole time, and not in the good way.
But at least there was that bit - other training that falls under the surgically removed memories thing has happened since, where it was assumed we cared about the procress, and that we *all* wanted a word (not in my lunchtime, consultant!)
